Frequently asked questions
What size should an ID photo be?
It depends on the document. A Korean passport, national ID or driving licence uses 35×45mm; a Korean resume photo uses 30×40mm. A US visa or passport photo is 2×2 inches (51×51mm) and a Chinese visa photo is 33×48mm. Pick a preset above and the crop is set to that ratio automatically.
Is the size of the face regulated too?
Yes, and it is the part people get wrong. For a Korean passport the head must measure 32~36mm from the crown to the chin and the eyes must sit 22~32mm above the bottom edge. A US photo requires the head to fill 50~69% of the frame, which is 25~35mm at 51mm tall. The blue and red bands on the preview mark exactly those ranges.
Should I export at 300 or 600 dpi?
300 dpi is enough for any photo lab or home photo printer — that is 413×531 pixels at passport size. Choose 600 dpi only if your original photo is large enough to support it. Zooming past the original resolution just softens the result, so keep the zoom modest.
What is the 4×6 inch sheet for?
4×6 inches is the cheapest standard print at almost every lab and self-service kiosk, so laying several copies onto one sheet gets you a strip of photos for the price of a single print. Six fit at passport size, nine at resume size. Turn on the cut marks to make trimming easier.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Loading, cropping and saving all happen inside your browser. A photo of your face is sensitive, so nothing is sent to a server — the tool keeps working even with the network switched off.
