What to know when making a QR code
A QR code stores information in two directions, so it holds far more than a barcode of the same size. Holding a web address is the most common use, but Wi-Fi details and contact cards work too.
The more you put in, the denser the grid becomes and the harder it is to scan. Shortening a long URL first makes it more reliable. Error correction means it still reads when partly covered or scuffed, but a large logo in the middle can push past that limit and break it.
Before printing, always output it at the real size and test with several phones — especially on something small like a business card. Use a dark colour with strong contrast against the background, and avoid pale colours or inverted tones. Your input is processed only in your browser.

Do QR codes expire?
The static QR codes made here never expire. The address or text is baked into the pattern itself, so a printed code still scans years later. What can break is the destination: if the page you linked to disappears, the code still scans but leads nowhere, so keep the link alive.
Can I change what a finished QR code points to?
No. A static QR code has its content frozen into the pattern. If the address might change, create a short link that redirects, and build the QR code from that. Later you only update where the short link points, and the printed codes keep working.
How small can I print a QR code?
A safe rule is roughly one tenth of the scanning distance. A business card or flyer read from 30cm needs about 2–3cm; a poster read from 2m needs about 20cm. Longer content makes the grid denser and needs more size, so always test-print at the real dimensions.
My code stopped scanning after I added a logo.
Error correction fills in whatever the logo covers, but past a certain point it gives up. Set the error correction level to H and drop the logo size below 30%. If it still fails, shortening the content is the most reliable fix, since a sparser grid tolerates more coverage.
How does a WiFi QR code actually work?
It simply stores the network name, password and security type as a specially formatted line of text. Your phone camera reads that line and opens the join dialog for you. Note that the password sits inside the code in plain form, so anyone with a scanning app can read it.
Can I see how many times my code was scanned?
No. This tool only makes static codes and stores nothing on a server, so there is no scan counter. If you need numbers, add a tracking parameter to the link before generating, and your website analytics will show which code brought each visit.
