How to resize an image and shrink its file size
Drop an image or click to choose one to get started, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. There are three ways to set the size. Pixels lets you type the width and height directly. Percent scales the image to a share of the original with a slider. Long edge lets you cap the longer of the two sides and the other follows the ratio, which is handy when you want portrait and landscape photos normalised to one standard.
File size has two handles: dimensions and quality. Halving the width and height cuts the pixel count to a quarter, which drops the size a lot on its own. Quality only applies to JPG and WEBP; for photos, 70 to 85 is usually indistinguishable by eye while saving a lot of bytes. Under the preview you can see exactly how far the file size fell from the original, so try a few values and watch the number.
You can save as JPG, PNG or WEBP. JPG is the safe default for photos, while PNG is what you want for logos and icons that need a transparent background. WEBP is the lightest at the same quality, though very old software may not open it. Enlarging beyond the original is allowed but will look soft, since the missing detail cannot be invented. Everything runs inside your browser and the image is never sent to a server.
